I am a lifelong fan of storybook parks, the precursors to theme parks. Storybook parks feature sets and rides based on classic children's literature.
I spent many a happy time at one such storybook park--Children's Fairyland in Oakland, California--when I was a child. I also worked there as an adult. Children's Fairyland brings to life such classic tales as Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, and Three Billy Goats Gruff. I'm particularly fond of the Alice in Wonderland tunnel and maze.
In North America, you can find storybook parks in California, Oregon, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and London, Ontario. You can also find parks in England, Germany, and Australia. I encourage you to seek one out.
